Goodbye friends...

I know it's a little impersonal, but I'll have to say goodbye to everyone over the blog. I don't have much time between my busy schedule of massages, lunch dates, and shopping trips to tell each one of you I'm moving to Vietnam.

After a rough 26 hr plane ride, which included a rubbery chicken Christmas dinner topped off by three of my fellow passengers barfing for the final 45 minutes into Tokyo, I landed in Saigon around 10pm Monday night. Although I was a tad fuzzy from the trip the intense amount of christmas and new year decorations and lights helped ease my transition. After a full night's sleep and a delightful breakfast buffet I spent my first day hoofing it around the city and learning to weave my way through the millions of motor bikes to cross the street. I believe that was the last time I walked anywhere. My fellow travelers and hosts sure know how to do it. I have spent the past three days basically doing the same 4 activities: eating delicious food, getting pampered (foot massages, facials & manicures), shopping, and drinking. Luckily none of these things cost more than $5. I did limp out of my hour long foot & leg massage, but it was only $6 so I didn't complain. I figured I could just get another one later if I was still sore.

Today we left Ho Chi Minh for the beach, where we'll spend the New Year's Weekend. Although I loved Ho Chi Minh, I don't miss the constant flow of thousands of motor bikes. It's only fun when your riding on the back of one, not when you're trying to enjoy a peaceful sightseeing walk. It will be nice to spend the weekend on the beach and drinking by the pool. Apparently this is also a hot spot for Russian & Cuban tourists, so we'll be bringing in 2012 grinding to the house band with our new commy friends. I'm sure Yvonne and I will be hosting the after party since we were upgraded to the "Business Suite"upon arrival. Since we are clearly "all business" it's only appropriate we be upgraded. The three other ladies sharing the regular room with the roll away didn't seem to be as convinced.

So sorry I haven't posted as much as I would like, but clearly I've been busy. I'll try to pop out of the hot tub occasionally this weekend to write more. ...but in conclusion, I am having a fantastic time and don't plan on coming back.

Oh-- Leah, you'll also want to start the Visa application process. You once said if you were a billionaire you'd hire someone to wash your hair, well you're in luck. If you move to Vietnam you'll be a billionaire and you can pay someone to wash your hair everyday. My fellow travelers haven't washed their own hair since their arrival!

  1. When looking for an apartment, make sure you get at least 2 bedrooms, I'll be visiting.

  2. This was definitely my favorite sentence: "My fellow travelers haven't washed their own hair since their arrival!" It's going to a real jolt back to reality when you guys will have to start washing your own hair and clipping your own nails. THE HORROR!!! --Ace

  3. There will be no jolt back to reality for me. I live in Ghana. I obviously hired my own personal hair washer immediately upon my return. I may never wash my own hair again. I have started washing my own face again though--those face washes weren't all they were cracked up to be.
